GM Allan Pollock is joining APTA's team to help transit agencies across the country
The American Public Transportation Association’s chair Nuria Fernandez
announced this month the formation of a Mobility Recovery and Restoration Task Force.
“There is no more important or urgent undertaking for our association at this time in history,” said Fernandez, general manager and CEO of Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority. “All of APTA's strategic goals underpin this immediate work to lead and support our industry.”
Fernandez has asked General Manager Allan Pollock to serve on the task work, whose members begin their work May 1.
“The goal is find the path forward for our industry and create a plan for operating in the post-pandemic environment,” said Pollock. “That plan includes the continued safety of our front-line employees and our riders.”
The task force’s end product will be a set of recommendations that cover a wide range of issues critical to public transit's success, including public and rider confidence, safe-guarding employees and riders, customer-focused operations, quick-strike rail and bus scheduling, as well as resiliency, equity and societal needs. The task force will complete its work by Sept. 1.
